Kyocera KJ4B-YH Inkjet Printhead — Product Overview
The Kyocera KJ4B-YH (KJ4B-YH / KJ4B-YN) is an industrial inkjet printhead built on piezoelectric drop-on-demand technology. Part of Kyocera’s KJ4B series, it is designed for high-speed printing of water-based inks. The series stands out for its productivity, handling not only single-pass applications such as transaction printing, document output, and security printing with MICR ink, but also multi-pass applications like textile printing, giving it broad adaptability.
In terms of performance, the KJ4B-YH is a single-color configuration with a standard print resolution of 600×600 dpi. The printhead integrates 2,656 nozzles at a nozzle pitch of 0.042 mm, with an effective print width of 108.25 mm. Its maximum drive frequency reaches 40 kHz, and the top printing speed is 100 meters per minute; at 75 meters per minute it can output droplets as small as 5 pl, balancing speed with fine detail. Droplet volume is adjustable across three settings — 5 pl, 7 pl, and 12 pl — and the recommended ink viscosity range is 5.0 to 6.0 mPa·s.
On the structural side, the printhead features a built-in filter that captures particle contaminants in the ink to reduce the risk of nozzle clogging, along with an internal heater that offsets the effect of ambient temperature fluctuations on printing. Combined with a specially optimized ink-channel design, it maintains a stable ink supply. The unit measures 200×30×60.9 mm and weighs approximately 438 grams.
