The scan motor drives the belt that moves the cutting carriage across the machine, so it controls the left-to-right axis of every cut. This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.
A failing scan motor usually announces itself clearly. The GS-24 may stop with a motor error, the carriage may move in jerks or make a grinding or buzzing noise, shapes may come out stretched or with corners that do not meet, or the carriage may lose its position in the middle of a job.
