The M017051 ink damper sits on the carriage of Mimaki SWJ-320EA and SIJ-320 printers, between the ink supply tubes and the printhead. It filters the ink, buffers pressure changes while the carriage moves and keeps a steady supply to the head nozzles. This is a genuine, original Mimaki part – not a copy or compatible replacement.
Dampers wear over time: the film loses elasticity, the filter clogs and air can enter the ink path. Typical symptoms are missing or deflected nozzles that return after cleaning, banding, ink dripping from the carriage, air bubbles visible in the damper, or a head that cannot be filled properly. Dampers are also usually replaced together with a new printhead or after changing ink type, to avoid contaminating the head.
