The Mimaki M021402 capping station is the maintenance unit at the home position of the UJF-3042MkII and UJF-6042MkII UV flatbed printers. When the carriage parks, the caps seal the printhead nozzle plates so the ink does not dry, and during cleaning the station draws ink through the nozzles. Cap rubbers and absorbers wear and collect cured ink over time. When the caps no longer seal properly, cleaning becomes ineffective: nozzles stay missing after several cleanings, ink is not pulled out evenly, heads dry out overnight, or ink overflows from the caps.
