The nose rides on the material surface and keeps the cutter at a constant depth, even when the surface is not perfectly flat. This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.
The pointed (sharp) shape lets the nose follow small or narrow areas, such as tags, small plates and curved items, more closely. Over time the tip wears down or gets chipped, which can lead to uneven engraving depth, scratches around the engraved area or the nose catching on the edge of the workpiece. Replacing the adapter restores even, clean engraving.
