Part 21945140 (WIRE CX-500) is the steel drive wire that moves the tool carriage on the Roland CAMM-1 GX-500 and CX-500 cutting plotters. Instead of a rubber belt, these machines use a wire running over pulleys to pull the carriage across the full width of the machine. This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.
A drive wire that is frayed, kinked or has lost tension causes the carriage to move inaccurately. Operators typically notice shapes that are distorted in the carriage direction, circles that do not close, a carriage that jerks or stalls, unusual noise from the pulleys and, eventually, a wire that snaps and stops the machine.
