The DAMPER,INK VS-640_01 (part number 1000012719) is the ink damper for Roland machines built around the 7th-generation DX7 print head. It fits the VersaCAMM VS series, the VersaEXPRESS RF-640, RE-640, RA-640 and RT-640, the SOLJET EJ-640, the VersaSTUDIO BN-20 family and several other models. This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.

Each damper sits directly above the head and smooths out pressure changes in the ink supply as the carriage moves, while filtering out particles. A tired damper causes ink starvation at the end of long passes, banding, dropouts that come back after every cleaning and ink seeping from the carriage. Swapping the dampers is often the fix when a new head alone does not solve missing nozzles.
