The ink tank board sits in the ink station and connects the cartridge IC boards and cartridge sensors to the main electronics, reporting which cartridges are installed and how much ink they contain. A faulty board can cause a whole bank of cartridges to disappear from the display, random ink-end or cartridge errors, or a printer that will not start because it believes the ink system is not ready.
