FUJIFILM Dimatix StarFire™ SG1024/SC Printhead

The StarFire™ SG1024/SC is a model within FUJIFILM Dimatix’s StarFire SG1024 series, developed specifically for industrial ceramic decoration printing. Its compact, self-contained design is built to handle the high-heat, high-abrasion conditions found on ceramic production lines, and its proven, reliable materials deliver stable, consistent jetting performance throughout a long service life.

The printhead features 1024 independent jetting channels arranged in 8 rows on a single nozzle plate, printing at 400 dpi with a maximum operating frequency of around 50 kHz and an effective print width of 64.96 mm (2.55 inches). The collar-mounted metal nozzle plate offers excellent resistance to abrasion and damage, and can be removed independently for easy routine cleaning and replacement.

For drop control, the SG1024/SC incorporates VersaDrop™ technology, offering a range of drop sizes from extra small to large. It can switch between fixed drop sizes in binary mode and also produce grayscale output, all without sacrificing overall productivity. Paired with the RediJet™ continuous recirculation system, ink flows constantly between the nozzles and the refill chamber, effectively extending open time and reducing startup and downtime—making it especially well suited to highly pigmented and fast-drying inks. It also enables rapid priming with minimal ink waste, further lowering maintenance costs and improving system output efficiency.

The interface design is clean and efficient: on the electrical side, a single 60-pin connector on top handles power, ground, data, control signals, and the fire pulse; on the fluid side, two connection ports link to the ink supply system via Luer fittings for easy priming, flushing, and ink recirculation. Compatible with oil-based ceramic inks and their accompanying maintenance fluids, the SG1024/SC is an ideal high-performance printhead solution for the ceramic digital printing field.
