On the MDX-15 and MDX-20 this small motor moves the table and head along the X and Y axes. If it is worn or damaged, milled parts can come out shifted or with stepped surfaces, scanning results may be distorted, and the axis may stall, vibrate or make a buzzing noise without moving. A motor that runs very hot or has a stiff, notchy shaft should also be replaced.
