How can I replace it on my own?

As a 4th-generation Micro-Piezo printhead, the DX4 runs at 8 kHz and can produce ink droplets as small as 3.5 pl.
This gives you very precise printing, whether you’re using single-color (two-channel) or dual-color (independent channel) setups.

Picking the right head for VersaUV: Go with the gold head (5180) for VersaUV machines — that’s the safe choice. The standard head (5213) will also work, but only if your firmware is 1.4 or newer. One hard rule though: never mix the two. Every head in the machine has to be the same kind — all gold, or all standard.

Gold can stand in for standard: On any Roland printer, the gold head (5180) can take the place of a standard head (5213), as long as you keep the original head ID. So the swap only goes one way — gold can cover for standard, but a standard head won’t cut it on a VersaUV running the newer firmware.

The Epson DX4 solvent printhead is widely used for large-format eco-solvent and mild-solvent printing.
