It sits at the opposite end of the carriage belt from the drive pulley and keeps the belt running straight and properly tensioned. This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.
The idle pulley turns every time the carriage moves. If its bearing wears or the pulley becomes damaged, the belt may run off-centre, wear on one edge or lose tension. Common symptoms are a squeaking or rattling noise at one end of the machine, slight waviness in long horizontal lines, cuts that do not close neatly and visible fraying on the belt.
