The Mimaki M011417 ink damper is mounted on the carriage between the ink supply tube and the printhead of several Mimaki UV printers. The original listing names it the UJF-3042 damper and lists the UJF-3042, UJF-3042FX, UJF-3042HG and UJF-6042; it is also listed for the UJV-160, UJF-A3HG, UJF-A3FX and UJF-7151. It absorbs pressure changes as the carriage moves and filters the ink, so the printhead receives a steady, clean supply. Dampers wear with use, and UV ink that cures in the damper or its filter will restrict the flow.
