The RICOH MH5421F is a piezoelectric inkjet printhead developed by Ricoh for industrial single-pass printing, standing out for the stability and ink adaptability delivered by its continuous ink recirculation structure. It produces high-resolution output at 600 dpi, comes housed in a rugged stainless steel body, and a single unit can jet two ink colors at once—making it well suited to continuous production lines that demand high durability and consistent quality.
The printhead carries a total of 1,280 nozzles, arranged in four rows of 150 dpi each to achieve fine 600 dpi printing. Thanks to isolated, independent ink paths, one printhead can handle two colors through separate channels. The product is offered in two versions, F and MF, each tuned for the fluid-handling performance of inks at different viscosities, allowing users to choose based on their own ink characteristics.
In terms of jetting performance, the MH5421F adopts a newly designed ink recirculation mechanism. By keeping ink in constant motion, it effectively reduces ink starvation and jetting faults caused by clogged paths or trapped air bubbles; bubbles within the ink chamber are expelled automatically, giving the printhead a degree of self-recovery capability. Combined with an upgraded bonding process, both structural strength and service life are improved, and compatibility with fast-setting or fast-drying inks—such as pigment, white, and metallic inks—is noticeably enhanced. Together, these refinements deliver greater single-pass printing stability along with better finished quality and productivity.
