It’s a tough, shear-mode piezo printhead that works in both binary and 8-level greyscale modes. This means it can lay down variable drop sizes and deliver better print quality without needing extra printheads. Compared to the older KM512 series, the KM1024 SHB is a big step up — it doubles both the print width and the greyscale levels. Konica Minolta’s piezo printheads also run on lower voltage than most other printheads, and the new actuator in the KM1024 cuts power use even further.

A quick note on the name: 3688H is the part number, REVO-E is the version/series name, and 6PL means the drop size is 6 picoliters. They all point to the same printhead.

Thanks to its built-in heater, this printhead is a great fit for UV inks, and it works with solvent inks too. Genuine units normally come with the Head ID and the waveform info you need.

One thing to watch out for: the KM1024 SHB (6PL) and the KM1024 SH (14PL) are different drop sizes, and there’s also the newer KM1024i SHE series (the eco-friendly version, which uses about one-third the petroleum-based materials and toxic chemicals of the original). So double-check the exact model suffix before you buy — it’s easy to grab the wrong one.
