The Seiko SPT-1020 (original part number IRH2536Q-2010) is a piezoelectric drop-on-demand industrial printhead manufactured by Seiko Instruments of Japan, used primarily in solvent, eco-solvent, and UV grand-format printing equipment. Structurally, it is formed by combining two SPT510-35PL nozzle arrays in a staggered configuration, which doubles both the nozzle count and the native resolution compared to the SPT510, making it better suited for high-speed, high-density printing applications.

In terms of performance, the printhead features 1,020 active nozzles, a nozzle density of 185 npi, a print swathe width of 71.9 mm (approximately 2.8 inches), a native resolution of 360 dpi, and a maximum resolution of up to 720 dpi. It supports two firing frequencies, 6.46 kHz and 8.29 kHz, with a drop size of 35 picoliters, and is compatible with solvent, eco-solvent, and UV inks.

Compared with the earlier SPT510, the SPT1020 adds a built-in temperature detection module that automatically compensates the drive voltage according to temperature to keep ink ejection stable. It also incorporates a TICKLING anti-clog function, which applies low-amplitude vibration to the nozzles during idle periods to keep them active and prevent ink from drying and clogging at the nozzle tips. Note that the SPT1020 and SPT510 differ in mounting structure, wiring, and drive electronics, so the two are not directly interchangeable.

In terms of compatibility, this printhead works with a wide range of domestic and imported grand-format machines, including the CrystalJet series, Icontek models (such as the M5, M7, and the TW-3306 and TW-3308 series), Infiniti Challenger models (FY-3208GS, FY-5008GS, FY-UV2508S, and others), and Phaeton equipment.

Two points are worth noting when purchasing. First, besides the 35PL version, this series also offers a 12PL version with higher precision; the two look similar but are not interchangeable, so be sure to verify the picoliter rating before ordering. Second, both genuine original units and compatible or refurbished products are available on the market, with significant price differences, so confirm the source before buying and check that the printhead model matches your equipment.
