This is the genuine Roland scan motor 6000002775, ASSY,SCAN MOTOR VS-640_02, for the first-generation VersaCAMM VS-300, VS-420, VS-540 and VS-640 eco-solvent printer/cutters (the models without the "i" suffix). This is a genuine, original Roland part – not a copy or compatible replacement.

The scan motor drives the carriage belt that moves the print heads and the cutting carriage across the media. Its built-in encoder feedback lets the printer place every pass precisely and lets the cutter follow printed contours. A tired motor can cause carriage motor or servo errors, a carriage that stops or vibrates during printing, a burning smell or louder running noise, horizontal banding and bidirectional misalignment that calibration does not cure, and contour cuts that wander away from the print. Fitting an original motor restores the factory carriage performance.
